As a team, we chose to create a set of related tutorials that explore commonly used features many users overlook. · Tutorial #1 uses the screen cast to demonstrate how to create and save workbooks, and how to create a new folder, then updating the workbook. · Tutorial #2 illustrates how to use the auto-sum feature. Many users may not realize how easy it is to add numbers in a spreadsheet automatically using this button located on the toolbar. · Tutorial #3 shows users how to enter and delete information into spreadsheet cells, one of the most common uses of Excel. · Tutorial #4 teaches users how to select cells, either singly, or by row or column, or by entire pages. Once they have highlighted selected data, it can be used for calculations or creating charts. · Tutorial #5 takes users on a tour of Excel 2007. Many users are migrating to this newer version of the Office suite, but they are unfamiliar with the new layout and navigation. This tutorial introduces them to the ribbon, tabs, and functions located within each tab. Excel is a powerful spreadsheet application that teachers can use to manage student data and grades. Students can use it to enter scientific and mathematical data and create charts, graphs, and calculations. It makes the data and the processing more relevant and simulates real-life use of technology.
